Electrical Central Heating-1

Electrical Central Heating

Electrical central heating is a more modern more energy and cost efficient way of heating your home. Traditionally home heating was dominated by gas combi boilers or gas system boilers. They heated water and piped it around your home which warmed the rooms and provided hot water to your taps, showers and baths.

In the last 10 years a range of new electric heating products have come on to the market that are increasingly eco friendly due to the UK’s increasing coal free energy production. In addition to this their running costs rival traditional gas system. These two improvements have made electric home heating systems a viable option for home owners.

Whilst electrical central heating systems are probably not the best option for large homes with multiple bathrooms and high heating demands they are perfect for smaller homes and apartments. If you live in a smaller home with perhaps 2 adults an electric heating systems could save you money and reduce your carbon footprint helping to save the planet.

There are two types of electric central heating:

Electric Boiler

Electric boilers are comparable to a traditional central heating system, you install an electric boiler. It utilises your existing infrastructure heating water and piping it round the house. There are a couple of advantages for an electric boiler – they save space, they are relatively cheap to buy and they should cost no more than a traditional gas boiler to run.

Electric Radiators

Electric radiators have come along way in the past 20 years. Electricity companies used to give them out for free because the amount of electricity they consumed was enormous so the companies would turn a profit on their use.  Modern electric radiators however are very efficient they heat up an oil which radiates heat into the room in the same manor as a traditional radiator.

Electric radiators are also far more responsive that traditional radiators because they can be set to heat a room to an exact temperature or turn off completely.  This means no wasted energy heating rooms that are not used or over heating rooms.
