Social Distancing for Electricians

Social Distancing for Electricians: How can electricians working in your home or place of business properly practise social distancing?

The government continues with its plan to ease lockdown restrictions, but there are a few easy steps you can take to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.

  • Keep  2 meters distance from each other
  • Wear face masks
  • Wash your hands after their visits
  • Open your windows and doors as much as possible (introducing airflow reduces your risk of passing on viruses)
  • Disinfect the area where the electrician has been working

If you are your household are not shielding a vulnerable person then we think the above measures should be enough to keep every one safe. For more up to dat information take a look at the governments Coronavirus Rebuild plan.

What If Someone In My Household Is Shielding?

Shielding is where a particularly vulnerable person must take additional steps to ensure they do not contract Cornovirus. Shielding groups include those over 70, pregnant women and hose with secondary health conditions.

The government guidance is that no work should be carried out in the home of some one who is shielding unless that work is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household. For example if you have a member of your household that is shielding but due to your DIY efforts you have damage some part of your electrical circuit then it is reasonable to call an electrician. This is because by not getting the problem fix you are endangering the rest of the household.

Questions To Ask

If you are worried about spreading Coronavirus the it may be helpful to contact your electrician before their visit and ask them some key questions such as:

  • Are they using Personal Protective Equipment such as masks and gloves.
  • Do they have policies in place for tracking anyone who has come into contact with Covid?
  • Do they regularly temperature check their staff?
  • Are the screening customers before they visit (no symptoms for 14 days prior?)
